Tree and Vegetation Maintenance

March 27, 2025

Hydro One is scheduled to complete routine vegetation maintenance along distribution lines throughout various locations within Greater Napanee in 2025

Why is vegetation maintenance important?

Hydro One performs routine vegetation maintenance to ensure the safety and reliability of our power lines. Did you know tree related outages account for 30% of power outages in Ontario?

This work is essential to prevent unnecessary service interruptions, allow easy and safe access for our crews to perform emergency repairs, and to keep the corridor safe for public use.

What work is happening?

Work in the Greater Napanee area will include the removal of non-compatible brush, any dead or hazardous trees and pruning of branches away from power lines along the sides and underneath the hydro right-of-way.

If tree removal is required on your property, a Hydro One technician will make every attempt to contact you to discuss the work. If trees are removed from your property, all wood will be left on-site.

How will the work be completed?

  • Using manual equipment, such as chainsaws and pruners.
  • Support vehicles, off-road rubber tired units, bucket trucks and chippers will be used where necessary.
  • Mechanical equipment may be used in areas with higher densities of brush depending on the terrain.
