Seasonal Load Restrictions Delayed Due to Cold Weather

The Town of Greater Napanee's Seasonal Load Restrictions By-law allows restrictions to be implemented as early as February 15, 2025. Due to the extended cold weather, these restrictions will be delayed until further notice.

Town staff will be closely monitoring current weather data to determine the precise timing for enacting the restrictions. This data-driven approach ensures that load limits are implemented when road conditions are most susceptible to damage.

Seasonal load restrictions are a crucial measure to protect the road surfaces during the spring thaw. As temperatures rise, roadbeds become softer and more vulnerable to damage from heavy vehicles. These restrictions limit the weight of vehicles allowed on designated roads, preventing premature deterioration and costly repairs.

The Town will issue further public notice when the load restrictions are officially in effect.

Detailed information regarding specific road restrictions and any applicable exemptions will be available on the Town’s website. Commercial vehicle operators are encouraged to regularly check the website for updates and plan their routes accordingly.
