November 12th, 2024: Rural area residents must have their materials to the curb by this date. Materials will be collected throughout the week of November 12th. 

Rural area residents must call Infrastructure Services at 613-354-3351 ext. 113 prior to Friday, November 8th, 2024, to arrange for rural pickup.

November 18th, 2024: Urban area residents (from Highway 401 to County Road 8 at the golf course hill). Urban area residents must have their materials to the curb by this date. Materials will be collected throughout the week of November 18th. 

Encampment Response Consultation

The Town of Greater Napanee has launched an Encampment Response Consultation page to collect feedback from all residents on homelessness and encampments in the community. 
Visit the Encampment Response Protocol page on our website to learn more about how feedback can be provided during the public consultation. Feedback will be accepted until October 4, 2024. 

Media Release - Encampment Response Consultation to Begin September 16, 2024

(GREATER NAPANEE, ON) – The Town is asking Greater Napanee residents for their views on how encampments should be managed.

Today, the Town of Greater Napanee has launched an Encampment Response Consultation page to collect feedback from all residents on homelessness and encampments in the community. The feedback will be used to inform a more predictable and fair use of parks and recreational spaces while minimizing negative interactions with residents.

Current superior court decisions require municipalities to allow people to shelter in public spaces if there is not enough housing and shelter space to accommodate them. Greater Napanee does not currently have enough housing or shelter space to accommodate everyone.

Feedback collected during the consultation process will be reported back to Council at the end of October. Resident responses will inform changes to the draft Parks and Public Spaces By-law that was presented at a Regular Session of Council on August 27, 2024, and will be brought forward after the consultation concludes for a final decision.

Feedback from residents will be collected from September 16 to October 4, 2024. Residents can visit the Encampment Response Consultation page on Let's Talk Greater Napanee to learn more about the consultation and to complete a survey.

In addition to online opportunities, there will be a Community Forum in the Banquet Hall at the Best & Bash Arena on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Leaders from community institutions working on an encampment response will be available to answer questions.

The Community Forum will be live streamed on the Town’s YouTube channel. Virtual questions will not be accepted during the discussion due to technology limitations. Written comments and questions can be emailed in advance to encampments@greaternapanee.com.
