Media Release - CAO Announcement

(GREATER NAPANEE, ON) – The Town of Greater Napanee is pleased to announce that Matthew Grant will be joining the municipality as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). Council members and staff from the Town of Greater Napanee would like to welcome Matthew and his wife Alison as they move to the community in the coming weeks. Matthew will begin his new role on June 17, 2024.

Matthew is a career public servant with a background in communications, government relations, community engagement, and media. Over the past 16 years, he has served in senior roles in municipal and provincial governments and Canadian research universities in Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and the Yukon. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Western University and a Master of Journalism from the University of Queensland, Australia.

Matthew will be coming to Greater Napanee from Hamilton, Ontario, where he served as the City of Hamilton’s Director of Communications, performed Chief of Staff duties for the City Manager, and was a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Matthew expresses his enthusiasm for the new role. Grant states, “I look forward to working with members of Council, the dedicated staff at the Town of Greater Napanee, and members of the public in the coming years. I want to thank members of Council for the opportunity to serve the people of Greater Napanee and to contribute to the Town’s continued success”.

Mayor Terry Richardson welcomes Matthew to the Town of Greater Napanee. Richardson states, “On behalf of the Community, Council, and the Corporation of the Town of Greater Napanee, I would like to welcome Matthew to our municipality. Matthew's experience and upbeat perspective will most definitely make a positive influence, not only to the Corporation, but to the municipality as a whole.
